Invest York Road updates - Sept. 2022

On a monthly basis, we post a high-level summary of work that has happened with Invest York Road over the course of the previous month so that community members can stay informed about the progress being made on Invest York Road.

Here are updates for the month of September:

• Organizational development work continued on the establishment of our core 501(c)(3) organization.
• There was a final round of community feedback on Invest York Road's mission, vision, and values statements, and those documents have now been finalized.
• Volunteers tabled at two Govanstowne Farmers' Markets as well as at a back-to-school event at Govans Elementary School. Lots of great connections and interest came out of these events.
• Invest York Road was awarded a new grant from the Goldseker Foundation.
• Additional work was done to refine Invest York Road's financial projection models and some properties were selected to use for trial financial modeling.
• Invest York Road volunteers gathered for a first-ever in-person party to celebrate the work of the past 3+ years.
• Free community financial and investment education classes were scheduled for October & November, to be offered both virtually and in person.
