Invest York Road updates - Aug. 2022

On a monthly basis, we will be posting here a high-level summary of work that has happened with Invest York Road over the course of the previous month, so that community members can stay informed about the progress being made on Invest York Road.

Updates for the month of August:

• A new blog page was added to the Invest York Road (IYR) website to provide news, updates, and project status information to the community.
• The IYR work group continues to make progress synthesizing the input received through the "community conversations" that happened over the first half of the year, incorporating them into the final project plan.
• Organizational development has accelerated. We have begun meeting with the attorneys supporting our non-profit incorporation and drafting our formation documents.
• We have written draft mission, vision, and values statements based on community input about IYR. We will soon be reviewing those with our broader community networks to ensure that they align with the broader consensus.
• Grant applications for IYR were submitted this month to the following funders:
  • The Abell Foundation
  • The Goldseker Foundation
  • The Baltimore Progress Fund
  • New Pluralists
• In order to provide even more opportunities for the community to learn about IYR, track its progress, and get involved, we will soon be starting monthly open information sessions. These virtual sessions will provide an opportunity for community members to get updates on the project, ask questions, and learn about ways to participate. Session information will be posted on the "Get Involved" page of the IYR website.
